Floor Samples

Deciding on a floor for the foyer/kitchen/ 1/2 bath downstairs was a challenge. We originally wanted to go with tile but the risks of it cracking in such an old house outweighed the benefit of the look. Also...it is COLD in Binghamton so a tile floor wouldn't feel too great under our feet in the winters. We couldn't do wood because we have wood laminate in the dining room/living room and real wood in the bedrooms upstairs. We considered a floating tile laminate (like a wood laminate but is made to "look" like tile) but wet feet from the back and front door quickly warps and damages that type of flooring so we decided to go with a vinyl mock tile which will stay warm under our feet & has the flexibility to keep up with an old house (no cracking!) We narrowed our selections down to the two colors shown below. We decided to go with the light slate-"ish" color for the foyer, kitchen and 1/2 bath. First we have to remove the baseboards, prime and paint the foyer/hall/kitchen...stay tuned...
